About the Antelope Club

The Antelope Club (officially, the Wyoming Antelope Hunter's Protective Association, Inc.) is a non-profit private social club in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The purpose of the club is to protect and preserve wildlife, protect and preserve lakes and streams, promote juvenile athletics, and promote fellowship among members. It is governed by a nine-member volunteer board of directors who are elected by club members at large.

The Club was officially chartered in June of 1956 as the Indiana Chapter of the Wyoming Antelope Club, although the founders had been informally meeting since 1947. The Club has been making its home at its current location at 615 North Delaware Street since April of 1964.

Membership in the Antelope Club is open to anyone 21 years of age or older regardless of gender, ethnicity, nationality, political affiliation, or religious beliefs. Dues are $150 a year and membership applications require the signatures of two existing members.

The Club offers members a full service bar and kitchen providing lunch and dinner 6 days a week (plus Sundays when the Colts play) and brunch on Saturdays. Check out the DINING portion of this website to see a comprehensive food and drink menu including many regular daily specials.

The Antelope Club is open to the general public for lunch on weekdays and has membership reciprocity with over 100 social clubs across the United States and Canada. It is one of the few establishments in Indianapolis which still permits smoking indoors.

Regular Hours:

  • Sunday:  CLOSED  (except Colts games and other special events)
  • Monday-Wednesday:  11:00 am - 10:00 pm
  • Thursday:  11:00 am - 11:00 pm
  • Friday:  11:00 am - 12:00 midnight
  • Saturday:  10:00 am - 12:00 midnight

Understand, this is not a swanky, high-class type of place. What it definitely is is old school cool with a casual ambiance brimming with character and history. The preferred nomenclature for a member is 'loper', although an article in The Indianapolis Star on July 26, 2017 did compare the collective membership to "a cool group of scofflaws".
